Six years of ridicule from people who never opened the contract. Six years of
HEX doing exactly what it said it would, on schedule, without a single pause.
The critics moved on to the next thing. The code is still running.
01
The design
Richard Heart wrote the first certificate of deposit into a blockchain and
shipped it on 2 December 2019. Commit your coins for a fixed
term, earn from a fixed issuance schedule. Stake longer or larger and you earn
more. End early and your penalty goes to everyone who stayed. No bank sets the
rate, and nobody gets a better deal than you do.
02
No keys
Read the deployed bytecode. No owner. No mint function. No pause switch. No
proxy to upgrade through. No company, no custodian, nobody to beg for your coins
back. He gave up every power over it on day one, which is the
one thing the people copying him still refuse to do.
03
They came anyway
Called a scam every week for four years, always by people describing the
marketing and never the code. In 2023 the SEC sued over HEX,
PulseChain and PulseX. In February 2025 a federal judge threw the case out for
lack of jurisdiction, and that April the SEC walked away from it entirely.
HEX did not pause for a single block.
04
The rock
Then he bought The Enigma: 555.55 carats, 55 facets, the
largest cut diamond on Earth by Guinness record, taken at Sotheby’s in
February 2022 for $4.3 million paid in cryptocurrency, and
renamed The HEX.com Diamond. Nobody else in this industry has done
anything close. HEXROCK is that rock, on three chains.
